For our second annual Wisconsin Local Foods Journal (for 2013) we are featuring Wisconsin’s Local, Sustainable Restaurants. This note is a call for suggestions of restaurants in your area that support local farms and Wisconsin food.
Big respect to the Greenwood in Door County. Amazing food and atmosphere. I recommend adding The Avenue Bar in Madison. Classic supper club with great great steaks and waitresses that call you “Honey” when you get there.
Oh the Avenue will be on the list. Its a work in progress. I love the Avenue Bar. Great steaks and a killer fish fry.
Gib;s on the lake in Kewaunee county is an exceptional supper club. gibsonthelake.com
Yes, yes, yes. My aunt still lives in Kewaunee and we love it.
I recommend adding “The Dirty Oar” in Nekoosa WI. Built in 1958 after several owners and in foreclosure a local girl comes home to save what was once called The Hideaway. Gorgeous sunsets with full walls of windows looking at Lake Petenwell. Chef Ed has delicious meal. I had the Pine Nut Encrusted Walleye…YUM!
Schwarz’s Supper Club in New Holstein (actually St. Anna), Wi. since 1957. Wonderful Prime rib and steaks, Fri. Fish fry too.
The Branding Iron in Wisconsin Rapids….true supper club with salad bar, great steaks and seafood…family owned.
White Stag Inn; Sugarcamp (Rhinelander) Millers Nutshell Inn; Antigo Schwartzendrubers Antigo
When in So.WI try the Historic Lake House Inn in the Edgerton area. A true classic. Building is a 3 story hotel in the middle of nowhere, built in the early 1800’s. Has ties to Al Capone as well! They are going through a ton of improvements, If you were there before and did not have a good experience, give them another try! You will be happy you did!
I hope they have made a ton of improvements. In October we visited and it was somewhat scary. Food OK, interior of the building was dirty and the bathrooms were deplorable. We will swing by again for another visit and see the updated facilities.
thanks for the heads up.
U forgot Smithy’s Supper Club in Solon Springs WI – I work there
The Copper Dock in Hubertus. We visited last Friday for the first time and it won’t be the last!
Went there last year and not happy. Breading on the chicken was thick and grainy.
What about Nortin;s on Green Lake … great views & food !! & Mars on Lake Como near lake Geneva area so quaint…. both right at the waters edge !
Many years ago there was a Supper Club in Hammond, Wi called
Holcomb’s. Can you tell me if it is still operating ? Thanks
Liberty Inn in Beloit has been replaced by another restaurant. Have yet to eat there.
