In a move that shows how predictable the tastes of Wisconsinites are, the Sausage Kabobs finished first in fan voting in the Brewers concession contest. Actually, I don’t have a problem with this item and picked it as my second choice (as awesome as they looked, I just didn’t see Chicken Parmesan Sandwiches or Fish Tacos as attractive stadium fare) but the item itself is really just a re-packaging of items already sold at Miller Park. I was very bummed that Chris Stoa’s poutine didn’t win. However my disappointment turned to jubilation as I read this line in the story: “Although Poutine with Cheese Curds finished second in the overall fan voting, it will also be added to the Miller Park menu for 2011.”
Someone in the Brewers organization was obviously pulling for poutine and my bet is on General Manager Doug Melvin.
I look forward to an ice cold Miller Genuine Draft and Poutine come April.
So they will have the poutine after all? Sweet! I heard on the radio this morning that the sausages won and I was bummed!
Poutine at Miller Park? I have a house-full of White Sox fans but I think poutine alone is worth a trip to see the Brewers. First heard of poutine in Calvin Trillin’s Nov. ’09 article in The New Yorker. I’ve been itchin’ for a culinary road trip to Montreal ever since.
I was shooting video at the judging (before the recipes were narrowed down for voting) and Doug Melvin was definitely championing the poutine!
Awesome! Poutine might not be indigenous to Wisconsin, but cheese curds definitely are!
